The kernel has been 64bit only since 2012 and since 2017 users() have been warned actively. This has been a long time coming and still companies are only migrating when they can literally feel the cliff under their feet. I always find this to be a bad sign for the development of a product, because it shows no preparation for the future and missing day-to-day improvements to the foundation of a software. This is the kind of thing that will fall onto your feet as a software developer. Sorry for the rant. Edit: and thanks for the heads up level 2 Rational Acoustics 5 points 1 year ago I hear you, but theres more to the story. Weve been preparing for this for years and the final jump to make a 64-bit build of Smaart only took about 20 minutes (because of our prep). Part of the holdup is that we use various third-party software libraries and some of them have only recently pushed 64-bit binaries. Smaart 8.4 is a 64-bit build on the Mac side and has been in Beta for about 6 months, Smaart Di v2.1 is close behind. Both of those updates include a slew of features that are actually exciting (I prefer to pair the more boring maintenance updates with something thats fun).
